I was born and raised in the little town of Yoakum, Texas. I moved to Brenham in 1992 to attend Blinn College and play/march with the Buccaneer Band. I quickly fell in love with Brenham, literally, I meet a Brenham boy, David, who I am still married to after 23 years. I am currently working for the City of Brenham Blue Bell Aquatic Center as the Aquatic Superintendent... This will be my 14th summer and I’m not sure where the time goes!!!
David & I have 2 wonderful boys!! Justin, a Junior at Texas A&M and Colton, a sophomore at Brenham High School. Around Brenham I am also known as a stepmom to 60+ teenage lifeguards... Never a dull moment!!!
I enjoy each and every day!!! From Training staff to teaching swim lessons, to budgets, presentations, fundraising, events, programming, bookings, scheduling, you name it... It keeps the days interesting!!
I enjoy my involvement with the Aquatics Industry. I currently serve on the Texas Public Pool Council Board - past President, I am a member of TRAPS, AOAP and several Aquatic/Recreation organizations... I have presented at several conferences and trainings on topics such as programming, generations, in-services, and staffing.
I enjoy being involved in my community. Serving on the Chamber of Commerce Board and for the past 10 years as a Blue Blazers welcoming in "New" businesses and celebrating those that have stayed in our community for years!!! Building Brenham and making it the BEST little hometown in Texas..
I am involved with Special Olympics and currently serving on the Central Texas Resource Board. I love to stay active in my community.
My careers all seem to center around Health & Safety… Starting my career as a lifeguard at 16, working summer camps, the Brenham School District, the American Red Cross, and now the City of Brenham.
FUN FACTS:
• Love to ride 4-wheelers with my family
• Enjoy going the family FARM
• Played drums in High School & College
• The Coast is my Happy Place

I was born in Oklahoma, then moved to McKinney, Texas when I was in 5th grade. I started working in the Aquatics industry at the age of 16 for the City of McKinney as lifeguard and swim instructor, and never really left the industry. I graduated from University of North Texas with a degree in Psychology and Political Science, and received a minor in Development and Family Studies. During my 15+ years in the industry, I have had the opportunity to work in several roles from lifeguarding, to leading swim lessons, to becoming a program coordinator, and finally landing in my current role as Aquatics Director at Shalom Austin. I love to train! Whether it swim lessons, swim team, new staff (lifeguards or swim instructors), and even developing new full-time staff members. I have gained priceless experiences and knowledge from my current and former positions, supervisors, and colleagues that have been part of my career. My position at Shalom Austin (local non-profit JCC) has afforded me the opportunity to wear multiple hats in our organization, which has allowed me to see the bigger picture for our community and see the benefits of true teamwork. When I am off, I enjoy being outside in nature, hiking, and camping.

My introduction to the aquatics field was in March of 1995 when I started out as a gate attendant and concessions clerk at our neighborhood homeowner’s association after being recruited from my high school’s swim team. From my first encounter working at swimming pools I have been committed to working in the aquatics industry and furthering my education and standing in the aquatics field. I have been fortunate enough to work at a variety of facilities in a number of locations, partly with thanks to a military parent. I hold many current certifications pertaining to aquatics, and belong to a variety of professional groups. My enthusiasm for work is partially due to work ethic, and the enjoyment of teaching and teambuilding, and partly for continuation of aquatic traditions and programs like those I personally have enjoyed through my lifetime. Currently I am employed at Port Royal Ocean Resort, and the City of Port Aransas in the Coastal Bend Area.
