Pool Maintenance Worker

Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Pool Technician position, the candidate will perform the following duties: Assist the Pool Technician in performing a variety of general, technical and specialized maintenance tasks on pool and associated facilities. Operate, repair, maintain and clean mechanical equipment for pool operation including water filtration and chemical purification systems, intake and outlet valves, chemical feeders, pumps, compressors, seals, vacuum equipment and chlorine metering devices; assist in determining and implementing preventive maintenance programs for pool operation; operate and maintain pool boiler system and assist with boiler repairs. Insure pool equipment meets code specifications; conduct walk-through inspections of pool facilities and take necessary corrective action. Sanitize walls and replace underwater lights. Regulate water temperature and levels; tests water using a chemical kit to verify the readings. Adjust chemical balance as needed by adding chemicals to the pool water, calculating the proper amounts to be added to the water for proper balancing. Clean filters as needed by “backwashing.” Assist with the maintenance of pool facilities including pumps, filters and mechanical, construction and electrical maintenance. Other duties will be assigned to perform as required.


Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalency; or technical diploma in mechanical, technical or construction. Prefer a candidate with a minimum of 3 years experience in swimming pool maintenance or equivalent training. Ability to read and write and comprehend simple to complex instructions and technical information. Ability to read and understand blueprints, mechanical and repair manuals. The candidate must also be able to perform basic arithmetic skills and calculate formulas for the chemical treatment of water. Must have valid Texas Class C Driver’s License with a good driving record; obtain certification in First Aid, CPR and AED within six months of employment. Prefer a certificate of pool operation (CPO, AFO or equivalent), obtain a Hazard Communication Act certificate within six months of employment, meet any local, state and/or federal requirements in handling chemicals, safety, hazardous chemical response, pool operation, water chemistry, etc.; must be able to respond to “on-call” and emergency situations.

Salary: Target Hiring Range: $785.80 - $981.00 bi-weekly
